FACE FRAME

     A cabinet that has a solid wood frame (constructed of stiles and rails wider than the shelves and partitions of the actual box) glued and nailed or pocket screwed to the face of the box to increase span strength and help hold the box together. The doors and drawer fronts can either sit on the face frame, overlapping about 1/2" on each side or the doors and drawer fronts can be inset into the face frame so they are flush with the face frame. A standard cabinet box is made of 3/4" material. All decks, tops and bottoms are glued and nailed into a dado in the ends. The face frame is glued and screwed together then nailed to the box. Concealed European hinges on the doors, white epoxy tracks on the drawers, and 1/2" plywood drawer boxes are standard.  

FRAMELESS

     Simply shelves and partitions edgebanded on one side that are screwed together. A standard cabinet box is made of 3/4" material. All ends, tops and bottoms are edgebanded  and screwed together. Concealed European hinges on the doors, white epoxy tracks on the drawers, and 1/2" plywood drawer boxed are standard.  

Some common upgrades are full extension tracks on the drawers, decorative hinges, and dovetail drawer boxes.

When you are deciding whether to go with face frame or frameless cabinetry, ask yourself if you want cabinets where you can see the cabinet in between the doors (face frame) or cabinets where all you see is the doors (frameless). 

DRAFTING

     We use Cabinet Vision, a CAD program especially designed for cabinet design. It can produce elevation, shop, plan, and 3-D drawings.

CARE AND CLEANING

Maintaining your beautiful custom woodwork is as simple as observing  a few simple cleaning guidelines. They should be wiped with a soft cloth dampened with warm water regularly to remove dust and cooking oils. If a more thorough cleaning is needed, a mild soap can be added to the warm water. Abrasives should never be used to clean your cabinets. Wood is subject to natural movement due to moisture and temperature.
